Cosco Raises the Limits

Cosco has long been a leader in car seat design and child passenger safety. Now, Cosco has become the first car seat manufacturer to introduce a rear-facing weight limit of 35 pounds for all convertible seats and an 80-pound upper weight limit for all auto booster seats.

“Recent research has shown that older children need to be in car seats longer,” explained Steve Saxton, Product Manager, “yet they are the least likely to be restrained. Raising the upper weight limit on the Alpha Omega™ auto booster mode, Grand Explorer® auto booster and all three high back booster seats is Coscos commitment to providing more versatile car seats that fit consumers needs.”

Cosco had previously raised the rear-facing limit on convertible seats to 30 pounds in order to accommodate very young, heavy babies who werent ready to be turned forward. “Increasing the upper rear-facing weight even more to 35 pounds will accommodate additional children who are really too young to face forward, who are developmentally delayed or whose parents wish to keep them rear-facing longer,” explained Saxton.

Cosco is a leading manufacturer of juvenile products as well as a major manufacturer of home furnishings products. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dorel Industries, Inc. in Montreal, Canada. Dorel Industries, Inc. is listed on the Montreal Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbols DII.A and DII.B in Canada and on the NASDAQ Exchange under the symbol DIIBF.
